Fable is a working service dog, professional model, rising animal actor, and enthusiastic advocate for disability awareness. Follow along as she works, learns, explores, and occasionally commits violent crimes against squeaky toys.

When Fable came home at 8 weeks old, we began introducing her to food luring into sit, stays, and downs, about 3-4 times a day with her standard puppy kibble. 

After the first week at home, we began exposing her to new environments from the safety of her dog stroller.  To the right, there's a photo of  that and when she first started opening her eyes. We would take her to pet friendly establishments, like Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Petsmart, Petco, and others.

As Fable progressed in her training, we began implementing harder challenges for the little puppy such as delaying the reward, performing obedience on top of new surfaces, and with added distractions. 

Growing up, Fable lived in an in-home daycare, and still does. This early, and continued, exposure to new people, extra noises, weird smells, running around, and other distractions has made working through them come easy to her. 

By 4 months, we began introducing her to dog sport, like the Topeka's Top City Dogs' FASTCAT group and dock diving private lessons.  We also tested her skills for AKC Star Puppy at Manhattan Kennel Club, where she was awarded that title. 

We would also take her to Fairmont Dog Park in Manhattan KS for their agility course, where she dominated. We continued exposuring her to new environments and situations, such as 

By 6 months, we began task training: This includes applying deep pressure therapy on command, and finding the exit/her handler's partner in a store, all with the help of a professional trainer. 

Before we brought her into these chaotic environments, we would prove her skills at home. At this time, Fable was taught the basics of service dog etiquette such as a solid focus on her handler, settling for long durations, tucking under chairs/tables to "find place," an automatic sit when browsing in a store or moving in a line of people, etc...

By 8 months, Fable had a solid understanding of service dog etiquette and the fundamentals of her tasks, with a love of finding her handler's partner in a crowded store. 

This is also when she was approached for her first modeling gig and her handler became serious about content creation on Fable's socials. 

Fable began getting showing signs of adolocent reluctance as she would perform tasks more dramatically,push boundaries, and regressed in her training by half a month.  We began training her to wear a menstraul thong since her first heat cycle was steadily approaching, which she slowly took to wearing. 

Fable is catching up in her regression and is learning the basics towards becoming an animal actor for film, such as camera awareness, distance work with hand signs, working with different handlers, holding positions for longer durations, and some helpful tricks like speak on command. 

Fable is finding all this new training very fun and so is her handler! We have noticed some overlap in the training, like both careers require desensitization to novelty, ignoring distractions, know advanced obedience, and usually prefer getting a CGC title. 

Around this time, Fable began learning the proper retrieval of an item that was not a toy, and she did so very dramatically as per her new usual.
