App Lock & Privacy ("App Lock", "the app", "we", "us") helps you protect the apps on your Android phone with a PIN, password, fingerprint, or your phone's screen lock. We built the app so that your private information stays on your phone. This policy explains what information the app uses, why it uses it, and the choices you have.
# Summary
We do not collect, store on servers, sell, or share any personal data.
App Lock has no account, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking.
Everything the app needs, such as your list of locked apps and your settings, is stored only on your phone.
Your App PIN or App password is never stored as plain text. It keeps only a secure one-way hash on your device.
App Lock does not read your messages, photos, files, or anything inside your apps. It only checks which app is on screen.
# 1. Information the app uses on your device
To work, App Lock uses the information below. It stays on your phone and is never sent to us or anyone else.
# 2. Permissions and why we ask for them
App Lock asks only for the permissions it needs to lock apps. You can turn most of them off at any time in your phone's Settings, but app locking may stop working.
Usage access: lets App Lock see which app is opened, so it can show the lock screen over a locked app. App Lock only looks at the app that is currently in front. It does not record, store, or share your app usage history.
Display over other apps: lets App Lock show its lock screen on top of a locked app.
Foreground service and notifications: keeps protection running in the background. Android requires a small, silent status notification while it runs.
Run at startup: starts protection again after your phone restarts or the app is updated.
Ignore battery optimisation: asks Android not to stop App Lock in the background, so your locks keep working.
Biometrics: lets you unlock with your fingerprint or other biometrics. Android checks your fingerprint itself. App Lock never receives, stores, or has access to your fingerprint or any other biometric data. It is only told whether the check passed.
Device admin (optional): used only for Uninstall protection, which stops others from removing App Lock to get around your locks. App Lock uses no device admin policies. It cannot wipe, lock, or control your phone. You can turn this off at any time in App Lock's Settings or in your phone's Settings.
Internet: included by the app framework. App Lock does not use it to send your data anywhere.
# 3. Information we collect
We do not collect any personal or device information. App Lock does not send any data from your phone to us or to any third party. We cannot see which apps you lock, your settings, or your PIN or password.
App Lock does not contain any advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking tools.
# 4. Sharing of information
Because we do not collect any information, we do not sell, rent, trade, or share your information with anyone.
# 5. Device backup
Android may include App Lock's settings in your phone's own backup (for example, a Google account backup), depending on your phone's backup settings. That backup can include your list of locked apps, your settings, and the one-way hash of your App PIN or password, but never the PIN or password itself. Google or your phone's maker handles these backups under their own privacy policies, and we have no access to them. You can manage or turn off backups in your phone's Settings.
# 6. Third-party links and services
Social media links: The app's menu may contain links to our Instagram and YouTube pages. When you tap a link, it opens in that app or in your browser and leaves App Lock. Those services have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your data.
Google Play: If you download App Lock from Google Play, Google may collect information as described in [Google's Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy).
# 7. Data security
We protect the information on your device in these ways:
Your App PIN or App password is stored only as a salted PBKDF2 hash, never as plain text.
Your settings are kept in App Lock's private app storage, which other apps cannot read.
Your lock list and PIN data are kept in credential-encrypted storage, which can only be read after you unlock your phone.
After 5 wrong attempts, unlocking is paused for 30 seconds.
No method of storage is 100% secure, but because your data never leaves your phone, it is never exposed to network or server risks.
# 8. Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays on your phone until you remove it. You can delete it at any time:
Unlock an app in App Lock to remove it from your lock list.
Clear App Lock's data in your phone's Settings → Apps → App Lock & Privacy → Storage → Clear data.
Uninstall App Lock. All of its data is removed from your phone. If Uninstall protection is on, turn it off first in App Lock's Settings.
Because we hold no data about you, we have nothing to delete on our side.
# 9. Children's privacy
App Lock is not aimed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children. Since the app collects no personal information at all, no child's data is collected.
# 10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EU/UK, the CCPA in California or the DPDP Act in India), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Because App Lock does not collect or store any personal data on our side, all your data stays under your control on your phone, and you can view, change, or delete it at any time using the steps above.
# 11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example, if we add new features. When we do, we will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page. If a change affects how your information is handled, we will let you know in the app or in the app's Google Play listing.
