還記得在六月中的時候,我們第一次相遇,是在大廈電梯裏。當時你問我”form幾啊” 我害羞的回答道”form1” 那時候的我,從沒想過我們的關係會發展成這樣。
本以為會是一場普通的相識,卻沒想到我們之後相遇了三次。在我們第三次相遇的時候,我鼓起勇氣,問了你的IG名字。
互相follow 之後,某一天,你回覆了我的story,我們從此亦變得越來越熟絡。
在12/7,我剛表白失敗。你在ig安慰我,在一個很曖昧的氣氛下,你向我表白了,而我也答應了。
記憶很清晰,在18/7,我們一起放學回家。在路上,我鼓起勇氣,牽住了你的手。那一瞬即逝的幾秒鐘,卻成為了我至今最難忘的記憶。
可惜,好景不常,那天過後,你對我越發冷漠。起初我以為是自己做錯什麼了,但卻一直找不到原因。
直至26/7,那天是我最後一天考試,也是我最後一天見你。我們一起放學回家,你說你對我的感覺只限於兄妹,並非戀人。儘管當時我已經預料到會有差不多的結果,但我的心仍然碎了一地。
當天回到家後,我們繼續用電話通話。你問我要不要繼續維持關係直至兩個月後,我答應了。但接下來的一個星期,我們的關係就像連普通朋友也不如,於是我決定了提出分手。因為我知道,就算我們一直這樣維持關係,也不會有結果的。

聖誕的意義是什麼?
記得上週五的聖誕早會上,區校長提到聖誕並不只是娛樂和消費,更是一個關懷在戰爭、貧窮、饑餓中苦苦掙扎的人民的機會。確實,人的悲歡並不相通,當燦爛的燈飾佈滿街道,桌上的美食令人垂涎欲滴,我們歡度佳節時難以主動聯想到這些悲慘的人。然而,僅靠一個呼籲真的能夠喚起我們的同情心嗎?難道說一句口號就能將一個冷漠、自私、缺乏同情心的人瞬間轉化為一個高尚、無私、悲天憫人的聖徒嗎?難道寫了一篇「想想別人」就能讓我們想想別人嗎?
真正的關懷並不來自一句在毫無瓜葛的場合提起的一句毫不真誠、沒有感觸的一句空話,而是來自日常的的接觸,是來自每天看到這些慘況後由心而發的情感。它不在一瞬間激發;它需要時間,在日積月累下慢慢培養,形成強大的、不可動搖的根基,常存心中,不會因一個演講而增加,也不會因節日的喜慶而減少。
我們有時候會開玩笑說要「到敘利亞打暑期工」,當然,這幾年變成了「到烏克蘭打暑期工」。戰爭是地獄笑話的常見主題之一,我也很喜歡這類笑話。然而,甚麼是戰爭?當然有熱血的部分,有坦克1v8,1v20重創敵軍的案例,有拿著6秒引信的反坦克地雷徒手拋進房子,精心動魄的時刻,有FAB500絢麗的爆炸。但同樣甚至更多地,是一具具姿態詭異,缺手少腳,腐爛得只剩白骨的屍體;新鮮的屍體旁有點點乾涸後呈深褐色的血迹(與電影不同,很少會一地鮮血);士兵驚恐地跳下車,在着地一刻踩到了地雷,整個小腿炸斷;相比之下,對屍體補槍顯得多麼仁慈,至少死人無法多死一次;茫茫雪地之上躺臥着聖誕特產-凍僵了的死去的士兵-但他們是幸運的,因為冬天屍體不容易腐敗,因此應該可以撐到收屍隊來清理他們的遺骸。
悲慘與恐怖不需額外渲染,也不需要其他人揮舞寥寥數張審查過的「和諧版」照片說:「看啊!他們多悲慘!想想他們吧!」一類生硬的話。一切情感都是源於事物本身而非抽象的道理。當你每天見到這些時,即使是鐵石心腸,也不免惋惜和同情他們的遭遇。事實足以說明一切。
因此,聖誕的意義是甚麼?我認為其不在虛偽地加倍關心正在掙扎的人-真要關心平時早就應該關心他們。正是因為平時見到太多這樣的慘狀了,當我們來到充滿喜悅和希望的聖誕時,我們才會為自己不需要面對同樣的遭遇感到幸福,放下這些壓抑的事情,更感謝身邊每一個友善的人,度過歡樂的聖誕節。

Everywhere we go, we are constantly surrounded with promotion that tell us to vote. The media tells us that the key you happiness is voting Aesira or Elysia. Now, promotions make it even easier to get more trust from us. You can just enjoy their ‘noises’ everyday and get a free ticket to the heaven. Promotions are making trusts, while we are suffering from the unimaginable noises that can one-shot us. When is enough, enough?
Studies show that compulsive promotion and high self-esteem are closely connected. Voters spend too little time thinking about what they vote for. Instead, they choose a quick fix by scanning Aesira’s and Elysia’s media pages. An Idiot called J**** states, ‘Compulsive voters go to both students associations’ media pages to compare which one is better. After deciding, many factors, like the influence of other students, make them hard to decide. So to feel better, they prefer to abstain. It is a vicious circle that never ends over the years.’ Likewise, I believe promotions won’t help a lot. To them, promotions are like a form of disturbance in which they choose to abstain instead. They see themselves as normal as one voter only who won’t change the results. As a result, promotions may not be the best way that the voters won’t do anything about that (maybe that is the bad point of promotions).
However, in my opinion, Aesira and Elysia should rethink what it means to be a promoter. I know too many people who want to make themselves better than others, so they choose to promote others. Most of them are in trouble because they keep promoting even though they do not realise that they are too annoying. And as they promote more, voters will start to abstain. The problem is the promoters don’t even know the danger is coming.
So, where do we vote from here? As clichéd as it sounds, too few people think before they vote. We need to stop rushing for promotion, i.e. to stop losing trusts from others, and only become a guy who sends us to the heaven. Personally, I prefer better promotions, like posting posters at school instead of shouting all the day, and promote fewer on the Internet. All of these options can earn trusts. But most importantly, we must understand promoting does not mean that we can make more people to view, and as the saying goes, ‘Promotions will come and go, but your hard work will always shine and show…’

Everywhere we go, we are constantly surrounded with tons of thousands of quizzes and homework that tell us to revise. Many educationalists tell us that the key to knowledge is doing more past papers and revisions. Now, CCSC makes it even crazier by arranging more homework and quizzes. You can enjoy doing piles of worksheets and get a free chance straight to heaven. Knowledge is improving, while our brains are suffering from the unimaginable amount of work that teachers assigned each day. When is enough, enough?
Studies show that stress has many effects on the human nervous system and can cause structural changes in different parts of the brain. Teachers spend too little time thinking about the amount of stress we accumulate. Instead, they choose a quick fix by giving us more quizzes to us. Some professors state, ‘Previous research has shown that academic-related stress reduces academic performance and motivation as well as increases the risk of dropping out of school. Long-term effects, including reduced likelihood of sustainable employment, cost governments billions of dollars each year. This narrative review presents the latest research on the effects of academic-related stress, including discussions of the impact on student's ability to learn and academic performance, mental health issues such as depression and anxiety, sleep disturbances, and substance abuse. The more the teachers give, the worse the problem. This is a vicious circle that never ends.’ Likewise, I believe these teachers are looking for more than just ‘assignments to give. To the students, doing the assignments and quizzes is like a form of death in which they can not only receive knowledge but also stress emotional damage. They see themselves as mental-damaged students who are continuously doing their work. As a result, facing the test is some sort of stressful to us because we are already knocked out before the test because of the quizzes and assignments (maybe that is why ‘History, Chinese History and Geography tests ‘ is called ‘death of three’).
Correspondingly, in my opinion, CCSC should rethink its overdone for allocating too many dictations, homework and quizzes, along with arranging a long test duration of a month. I know many teachers, who are worried about our academic results and are struggling with how to improve our results. Most of them are giving too many sudden quizzes because they want to test us after a chapter. And as the quizzes accumulate, we get more stressed. Those do not give us much breathing space either. The problem is the teachers are only getting more straightforward by assigning more work to us.
So, where do we go from here? As clichéd as it sounds, too few teachers think before they assign. They need to slow down a little bit, i.e. not giving quizzes too frequently. I prefer the 'BDT method', which stands for 'Breaking Down the Test'. It is like breaking down the test into little quizzes, and instead of having boring classes, teachers should use a more relaxing way to teach in class. For instance, 'run-dictation' and 'Kahoot quizzes' are much better. But most importantly, we must understand that there is no quick fix in learning. We still need to be hardworking to keep the score, and as the saying goes (by Virat Kohil), 'Self-belief and hard work will always earn you success.

Oh, gallant adventures of life, should you chance upon my path, I beseech you to cast your gaze upon my humble existence.

Sometimes, I ponder upon notions that may appear unreasonable at first glance, yet hold profound significance. One might perceive life as a mere existence, where we are all brimming with vitality. Yet in truth, we are merely enduring until the inevitable embrace of death. Days slip away, drawing us closer to our mortal end. Contemplating life, an array of inquiries arise, yet I refrain from imposing directives upon myself. Instead, I implore you to bear in mind this notion: the brevity of life renders it too fleeting for us to truly radiate.
Assuming the veracity of this perspective, another quandary emerges: what truly constitutes the essence of life? Individuals are born, traverse the journey of growth, engender the next generation, perpetuating the cyclical pattern, and eventually succumb to death. Prior to your birth, you had no presence in this world, and your soul remained unformed. Upon death, it is plausible that the soul is utterly obliterated, forever extinguished. Consequently, one becomes nothingness, a vessel devoid of vitality, bereft of the ability to experience or act, immersed in the realm of the deceased.
Let us consider an individual who graced this world millennia ago, and upon their demise, faded into oblivion, becoming an inconsequential entity. Yet their existence spanned only a few decades, after which they vanished for thousands of years until the present. While certain religions may propose an afterlife, where one's existence persists beyond death in either paradise or damnation, from a scientific standpoint, let us hypothetically envision a world devoid of an afterlife. In such a scenario, we exist solely to await the harrowing moment of our demise, a torment in its own right.
Occasionally, I find myself contemplating the nature of death. Will it be an agonising ordeal? Suddenly, all becomes engulfed in darkness! The most disheartening aspect is that after this transition, one ceases to be. Currently, at the age of 15, considering the average human lifespan, one-fifth of my existence has already elapsed. Time fleetingly gallops by, leaving us to ponder: how best to orchestrate our lives?
Indeed, this is a thought-provoking question warranting profound introspection.

Before I elaborate, let me ask you a question: Pressured yet? Life at this school is truly a fulfilling one. But, at the same time, it is a fast-paced one. Take a wrong routine or schedule, and that free time of yours gets wasted on piles of homework or arduous revisions. In your journey to graduation, stress seemed inevitable and nigh unsolvable. Therefore, I will discuss on how it is caused, how it may affect you and most importantly, how to minimize its effects.
Everyday, we always face pressure, whether it is from others, or yourself. It can range from simple activites such as talking to friends, to more frequent ones such as failing to achieve a better score on a quiz. Now, pressure isn't inherently bad. As the saying goes: less is more. A bit of pressure can increase your daily working efficiency, but when you have too much of it, the negative effects outweigh the benefits, and this is where things go awry.
Pressure to negative emotions is like fuel to flame. Pressure empowers them, making them harder to deal with. These negative emotions can induce both psychological and physical symptoms, such as but not limited to irritability, anxiety and stomach aches. Recent research on the psychological health of students has revealed that a large percentage of students felt stressed due to school. A number of students, including a former me, had depression due to stress. Aside from these symptoms, it can also cause a shift in personality, such as from optimistic to pessimistic. High amounts of pressure is akin to poison, where its effects slowly corrode your everyday life and you, until you find a way to deal with it or it deals with you first.
To recap, pressure exists in our everyday lives and a lot of young people are suffering because of its detrimental effects. Now, you might be wondering, how am I going to decrease it when it is inevitable? Remember that last line of the first paragraph? Pressure is inevitable, but it is just a nigh unsolvable problem, and that means there are ways to relieve yourself from this widespread menace.
The first suggestion is to lower your mental focus whenever possible. Keeping your mind in a concentrated state is fatiguing to your mental state. Whenever you finished what you are doing, take at least a few minutes to do whatever you want. You can take a drink, watch some scenery, or watch some videos (not highly recommended). You can even daydream for a while if you can spare the time to do so! Just relax yourself in your free time.
The second suggestion is to laugh your troubles off. Literally! Research has shown that laughing can help reduce stress and stress-related problems, as well as increase production of endorphins, a chemical partially responsible for happiness. Moreover, it can also strengthen your immune system and cardiovascular system. With these benefits, it's no wonder why laughter is the best medicine!
Another suggestion is to have less negative thoughts. The more negative thoughts you have, the more the stress may influence you through these thoughts. Speaking of thoughts, lust and desire can be easily influenced by stress, which may warp your personality and the way you treat people. A way to counter this is to try and enjoy every sensation in your life, as it can fill you with positive emotions.
PS: Don't take drugs, not worth being caught!
The last suggestion is to repeat mantras, not religious ones, but ones that can induce effects on you. I personally tried this method, and all I can say is that it truly helps with the problems I am facing in S4. Not only can repeating personal mantras relieve stress, if you made tailor-made it for yourself, it can even help you in changing you into an ideal self, helping you to realize yourself in a better form and instill values that you want yourself to have. Besides that, it can also help increase your mental fortitude, stress handling capacity and help you see the world in a newer way.
I once missed things in my life due to the stress of everyday life. I was reluctant to try anything due to my lack of confidence, and now the time to do so is running short. Now that I look back, if I knew this would happen, I would have cherished everything and every moment. As the author, I sincerely hope that this essay can bring help to those who need it. Be bold and daring, as there isn't a lot of chances for you to try everything. Cherish everything, so that someday, when it is all gone, you won't have regrets. In the end, I wish you all to care for what you care. After all, we all have something to care, someone to love, places to go, or people to cherish.
