Eye Care is a free Chrome extension designed to protect your vision and reduce digital eye strain. It provides features like screen dimming, blue light filtering, color adjustment, and rest reminders across all websites. This privacy policy explains our strict no-data-collection practices and compliance with privacy regulations including GDPR and CCPA.

2. Information Handling

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Personal Identifiers: Emails, IP addresses, names.

• Browsing Data: Your browsing history, URLs of visited websites, page content, or browsing activity.

• User Interactions: We do not track mouse movements, clicks, or keystrokes.

Locally Stored Data: All user preferences—such as filter intensity, reminder schedules, color settings, and on/off status—are stored locally and exclusively on your device using your browser's secure storage.local API. This data never leaves your computer.

Local Processing: All extension operations, including applying screen overlays, calculating break times, and triggering notifications, occur locally within your browser. No personal data is sent to any external server, database, or third party as part of the extension's core functionality.

3. Permissions Justification

The extension requests the following permissions solely for its eye protection features:

• Host Permissions (<all_urls>): These are essential to apply screen dimming, blue light filters, and visual overlays on every webpage you visit, ensuring consistent eye protection regardless of the site.

• activeTab / scripting Permission: Allows the extension to interact with the active browser tab to modify its visual appearance only when you enable the features or when a scheduled reminder triggers.

• storage Permission: Used to save your personalized settings (like dimming level and break intervals) locally on your device, so your preferences are remembered between browser sessions.

4. Data Security

Your privacy and security are paramount. All processing happens locally in your browser. Your settings and browsing activity never leave your device. The extension only modifies visual presentation (e.g., adds a tinted overlay) and manages local timers for reminders.

5. User Control

You have complete control over the extension:

• Disable/Enable: You can turn the eye care filters on or off instantly via the extension's popup menu.

• Uninstall: You can permanently remove the extension at any time via Chrome's Extensions Manager (chrome://extensions). Uninstalling will automatically and permanently delete all locally stored settings from your device.

• No Tracking: The extension uses zero cookies, analytics trackers, or hidden identifiers.
