Martial's mother studied watercolour landscape painting at Les Beaux Arts de Paris, which nurtured his early interest in art.
His predominantly self-taught approach lends a refreshing and original quality to his art.
Working from his garden studio in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Martial has attracted collectors locally and internationally. He articulates his creative drive by stating, “I paint because each new painting is the beginning of an adventure full of promises and excitement. My paintings reveal aspects of myself that I cannot express with words.”
Martial primarily works with oils. He is an astute observer of everyday life, and his paintings radiate a whimsical 'joie de vivre' that is both unique and delightful.
The main goal is to give people a good time, infuse the work with exuberance, and create a sense of fantasy.
Hello, I'm Susan - a ceramic artist whose vessels invite a sense of stillness
Rooted in a deep philosophical practice, my work explores the beauty of imperfection, presence, and form - each piece a quiet conversation between myself and the material.
Made by hand in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, these bottles, bowls, and cylinders are both functional and contemplative - offering a gentle invitation to pause.
My work celebrates beauty of imperfection: reminders of impermanence and acceptance
I was born in the desert city of Jaipur in India and I completed a BA of Fine and Applied art. Arrivng in Australia with my Australian wife in surroundings as far removed from my childhood. I found myself surrounded by tall eucalypt trees, a reedy dam, and little seasonal creeks, dry Sydney sandstone bush too. An Extraordinary ever-changing numbers of small ecosystems to bear witness to.
I found myself drawn to the amazing plants forms, extraordinarily seed pods, the colours and the structure to be found in a single insect bitten eucalypt leaf. All the birds and the ants, there are many species of both living around us, and of course, other saviours of this earth, the bees. They give us all so much joy.
My day-to-day work as a picture framer, artist on the picture, and mirror hanger, all jobs that keep my senses at home and give me a wonderful exposure to art.
