ExtractorPro ("the Extension", "we", "our") is a browser extension that extracts text, tables, links, images, and metadata from webpages and PDFs. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how the Extension works.
Key Commitment: ExtractorPro does not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal data or user information. All processing happens entirely within your browser.
We do not collect any personal data. Specifically:
We do not collect your name, email address, or any personal identifiers.
We do not track your browsing history or the websites you visit.
We do not collect analytics, usage statistics, or telemetry data.
We do not use cookies or any tracking technologies.
We do not collect or transmit the content of webpages you extract data from.
We do not collect or transmit the content of PDFs you process.
ExtractorPro operates entirely locally within your browser. Here's what happens when you use it:
Webpage Extraction: When you click "Extract", the Extension reads the DOM (Document Object Model) of the currently active tab to extract text, tables, links, images, and metadata. This processing happens entirely within your browser.
PDF Extraction: PDF files are processed locally using the open-source pdf.js library. The PDF content is rendered and analyzed within your browser — it is never sent to any external server.
Export: When you export data (Excel, CSV, JSON, Markdown), the files are generated locally in your browser and saved directly to your computer via the browser's download API.
Clipboard: When you copy data, it is written to your system clipboard using the standard browser clipboard API.
The Extension uses Chrome's chrome.storage.local API to store a small amount of data locally on your device:
Extraction History: A list of URLs and page titles of recently extracted pages (up to 500 entries), stored only on your device for your convenience.
Usage Counter: A simple daily counter of how many extractions you've performed, stored locally and reset each day.
Total Extractions: A cumulative count of total extractions, stored locally.
Important: All locally stored data can be cleared at any time from the Extension's Settings page using the "Clear All Data" button. This data is never transmitted outside your browser.
ExtractorPro requests certain browser permissions to function. Here's why each is needed:
activeTab: Required to access the content of the currently active tab when you initiate an extraction.
scripting: Required to inject the content script into pages that don't have it preloaded, enabling extraction on any webpage.
storage: Required to save your extraction history and usage statistics locally on your device.
tabs: Required to identify the current tab's URL and title for history and PDF detection.
clipboardWrite: Required to copy extracted data to your clipboard when you use the "Copy" button.
host_permissions (<all_urls>): Required to allow extraction from any website you choose. The Extension only accesses a page when you explicitly click "Extract".
ExtractorPro does not use any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or external APIs. The Extension:
Does not make any network requests to external servers.
Does not include any analytics or tracking SDKs (e.g., Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.).
Does not display advertisements.
Does not share data with any third parties.
The only external resource loaded is the Google Fonts stylesheet (Inter font) for UI rendering, which is a standard web font delivery service. No personally identifiable information is sent with this request.
Since all data processing occurs locally within your browser and no data is transmitted to external servers, the risk of data breaches or unauthorized access through the Extension is minimal. Your extracted data remains entirely under your control at all times.
ExtractorPro does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The Extension does not collect personal information from any user, regardless of age.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the Extension after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
