Compliance Check Logger is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with GOV.UK, HMRC or the Home Office.
On your explicit click, the extension captures a copy of a GOV.UK or HMRC check-result page you are viewing: the visible text (which can include names, right to work or right to rent status details, or VAT registration details shown on the page), the page's key summary fields, the page URL, a timestamp and a screenshot of the visible tab.
This can include personal data as defined by UK GDPR, most notably the name and immigration status of the individual being checked.
Nowhere except your device. All captured records, including screenshots, are written to the browser's local extension storage, private to your browser profile on your device. The extension:
makes no network requests of any kind (no analytics, no telemetry, no remote scripts);
has no host permissions for any remote server and never uses synced storage, only local storage;
does not use any authentication or identity features;
only reads the currently active tab, and only when you click "Capture this check" in the popup.
Data leaves your device only if you choose to export it (CSV or JSON download) or print a record, and then share that file yourself.
You (or your organisation) are the data controller for any personal data captured with this extension, exactly as you would be if you took a manual screenshot or printed the result page. The developer never has access to your records and is not a data controller or data processor for them under UK GDPR.
Have a lawful basis for capturing and retaining the data (compliance with a legal obligation is a common basis for right to work and right to rent record-keeping).
Keep your device and browser profile reasonably secure; records are stored unencrypted in local extension storage.
Delete records once no longer needed. The dashboard supports finding, editing and deleting individual records, and a delete-all control.
Respond to any data subject access, rectification or erasure request from the individual a record concerns.
Do not retain personal data longer than necessary. The extension does not enforce a retention period; review records against your own retention policy and current Home Office guidance.
Records persist until you delete them or uninstall the extension (uninstalling removes all extension storage, including screenshots).
None. No analytics SDKs, no error reporting services, no advertising, no remote configuration.
