Extending the Omniverse
at the University of Victoria
An introduction to creating NVIDIA Omniverse Extensions by developing a crowd simulator.
In this three-hour workshop, we will introduce participants to the NVIDIA Omniverse ecosystem of software. Specifically, we will focus on the Omniverse USD Composer Tool to construct 3D animated scenes with Universal Scene Description (originally developed by Pixar Animation Studios). With this tool, we will develop an understanding of extensions, their use, and a high-level understanding of their development. From here, we will develop a basic simulation system for moving multiple entities in a scene. Using this intuition we will cover the basics and some more advanced details of further developing your own crowd simulator beyond the workshop!
Note this workshop requires registration and has limited seats and resources. Make sure to sign up early! Some computing resources may be available to those without RTX-enabled machines (required for NVIDIA Omniverse).
Setup prior to the workshop is recommended:
Install NVIDIA Omniverse and create the necessary account(s)
In the Omniverse Launcher, Install USD Composer and IsaacSim
