Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why do you use Gmail?
A: We use Gmail, Google Sites, and a variety of other free tools, for exactly that reason, they are free. We are a not for profit company so, every penny we can save is more that we can spend on publishing and promoting our authors. There are many costs associated with publishing a book and by being savvy we can offer the best support to our authors.
Q: Does it cost me anything to publish my book with you?
A: NO. We are not a vanity press and we do not work with the 'hybrid' publishing model you may have seen. We will NEVER ask you to give us money, if we agree to publish your work. If we decide to publish your work, all associated costs are met by us.
Q: Will I get a lump sum payment for my book?
A: No. We don't believe in the royalty advance system that some other publishers use. We believe the money is better spent increasing exposure for our authors and their work. Instead we offer a flat 50% share of the profits, to all our authors (Publishers that pay an advance usually pay between 5-15%).
Q: Will i have to sign the rights to my work over to you?
A: No. Unlike a lot of other publishers you retain the full copyrights to all of your work. You authorise us to edit, reproduce, sell and distribute your work, on your behalf.
Q: Can i use my own artwork?
A: Absolutely, as standard practice we create a full cover for your book however, it is entirely your decision if you want to use your own. After all, it's you and your work we want to spread awareness for.
Q: How are Royalties paid and how often? Is there a payment threshold?
A: Royalties are paid monthly, Via Paypal. It's vital you have a Paypal account or we cannot pay you. The payment threshold is only £10 or higher if you prefer.
Q: Do you publish everyone that submits their work to you?
A: Although we would love to do that, unfortunately, that would be impossible. We are responsible publishers. We publish as many books as we are able, that we believe in and meet our minimum standard.
Q: Will my book be listed on Amazon?
A: We list on around 17 different platforms, including Amazon and some library services. You will of course have the choice of opting out, from any retailer, should you wish. You must ensure you have not listed your book on Amazon previously, you have not had any work delisted or your account suspended, in order for us to list on Amazon.
Q: Will my book be printed or is it just electronic?
A: We use a third party print on demand service. This means that we won't do an initial print run, we will list your print book, with selected online retailers, that readers can order in paperback form. This helps us keep costs to a minimum.
Q: Do you accept manuscripts assisted by AI?
A: Yes, we accept AI assisted works for review, however you must be honest and let us know they are AI assisted. Some retailers require that we disclose AI assistance and they check (as do we). We cannot risk our accounts being suspended, therefore, If you fail to tell us your work is AI assisted we will not be able to publish your work. We do NOT accept works wholly written by AI.
Q: What's the difference between AI assisted and AI written?
A: AI assistance is when you have used AI to generate words in your book. If you ONLY used AI for spelling and grammar, research, or ideas then you do not need to declare AI assistance. You DO need to declare it if any of your text was generated by AI.
Q: How long does it take to review submissions?
A: It varies. It can be under 2 weeks or up to several months, depending on the availability of our editors. If it is going to take longer than a couple of months, we will usually contact you and let you know. If you haven't heard from us after 3 months, then please get back in touch. We try to respond to everyone, whether it's good news or not.
