Christian Dior founded the company in 1946. The House of Dior was established at Avenue Montaigne in Paris on December 16th. The current Dior corporation celebrates "1947" as the opening year. This company started from the ground up. The company was originally financially funded by Marcel Boussac who was one of the richest men in France at the time.
The first few products that Dior founded were perfumes and the obvious answer of shoes, and clothes. Christian Dior in March of 1947 appointed his childhood friend, Serge Heftler-Louiche, as director for the first perfume, "Miss Dior," which was launched in December and remains a classic to this day. The company began by producing custom-made shoes for Roger Vivier. In 1958, the company changed its name to Christian Dior by Roger Vivier. With the launch of its first collection of lipsticks in 22 shades, the company continues its commitment to "total beauty" and expands its range of beauty products.
Following the success of the "New Look," Dior's brand rapidly gained popularity both in France and internationally. Celebrities and high-profile clients embraced Dior's designs, solidifying the brand's status as a symbol of elegance and luxury. Dior expanded its presence to key fashion capitals like New York and London, further fueling its global appeal.
