exploreCSR organizes hands-on research experiences, panels about computing research and grad school, and other events for undergrads interested in computing research or grad school. All undergrads are invited to participate, and students who are members of underrepresented groups are especially encouraged.
Participants will learn about maching learning methods that can make sense of images and will use them to figure out the list of wild species of Ohio.

How to apply to graduate programs and undergraduate research
All undergrads interested in computing grad school and computing undergrad research are invited to this meeting. Participants will learn about graduate programs and how to apply. There are multiple materials to prepare, and we will provide advice. Many of the graduate programs also look for research experience, which takes time to accumulate. The second part of the event will then be on how to look for/apply to undergraduate research opportunities.

Monday, October 18, 2021, 5:30-7:00 pm
Event will be indoors in Dreese Lab 113. Boxed dinners provided; attendees can eat together outdoors.
Registration (required, ideally by October 6)
Kickoff event: September 13
All undergrads interested in computing research and computing grad school are invited to this first meeting of the academic year. Participants will interact with other participants and with computing faculty and grad students. This first event will be an introduction to exploreCSR and a chance to meet people. Future events will include research presentations and hands-on research experiences, help with grad school applications, and more interaction and community building.
Monday, September 13, 2021, 5:30-7:00 pm
Event will be outdoors on campus within 5 minutes walk of Dreese (location sent to registrants). Dinner provided.
Registration (required; closes Thursday, September 9)
We're planning to meet in person about once a month during Autumn '21. Participants can interact with each other and with CSE faculty and grad students, and learn about a research topic or grad school from faculty or grad students or an invited speaker, over a meal or refreshments.
Past events (before Autumn 2021)
Participants will hear from and ask questions of a panel of grad students. Topics will include grad school life, how research works, how financial aid works, and advice for being a member of an underrepresented group (but the event is intended for everyone).
Tuesday March 9, 2021 @ 6 pm
The Council of Graduate Women in Computer Science (GWCS) and exploreCSR are organizing another panel on February 26th, 4-5 p.m. to answer your questions about the research topics, career trajectories, financial aid, and finding the right advisor.
This time, professors Anish Arora and Xiaodong Zhang will answer your questions. All attendees will receive a $5 coffee gift card after the event!
