The parish also played a significant role in Jamaica's colonial past and remnants of its heritage can be seen in the historic town of Falmouth.

Beyond its natural beauty, the Cockpit Country carries great historical significance. The area served as a refuge for the Maroons, free Africans living in Europe, the Caribbean & South America, who established sovereign, independent communities on the island. These resilient people fought against the colonization of the British during the 18th and 19th centuries and were able to preserve their freedom by using the geography of the Cockpit to their advantage. Today, you can visit the descendants of the Maroons in Accompong Town and Maroon Town, a couple of their sovereign territories, who proudly maintain their traditions and culture that is deeply rooted in the land.
Known as the 'Garden Parish', St. Ann has stunning natural beauty, vibrant culture and significant contributions to Jamaica's heritage. It boasts lush rolling hills, cascading waterfalls and sun-kissed beaches that attract millions of visitors from around the world.
