We invite you to be a part of the first-ever Vermont AI & Impact Symposium. This is your chance to move beyond the classroom and into the spotlight, presenting your ideas, research, and solutions on one of two critical themes:
AI as a Solution: Have you used AI to build a tool that helps your community, a model that predicts climate change, or an application that improves education or helps homeless families? Share your projects and show us how AI can be a force for good.
AI as a Challenge: Are you concerned about the ethical implications of AI, the future of work, or the spread of misinformation? Present your research on a societal problem caused by AI and propose a solution.
This is your opportunity to inspire, debate, and shape the conversation around one of the most transformative technologies of our time.
The Vermont AI & Impact Student Symposium invites high school students across Vermont to become AI-fluency leaders by engaging in practical, innovative problem-solving. This is the first symposium of its kind in Vermont, designed to amplify student voices and foster durable skills like critical thinking, empathy, and responsible technology use.
We challenge high school students, either individually or in teams, to apply Artificial Intelligence (AI) to address a critical societal challenge in their community or propose a solution to a problem caused or negatively influenced by AI. This focus supports Vermont’s ongoing efforts to address issues such as:
Affordability and Housing Shortages
Climate Resilience (e.g., flood recovery, clean energy access)
Mental/Public Health (e.g., substance abuse, access to care)
Workforce Development and Enrollment Decline
The goal is to move beyond the hype and anxiety surrounding AI, demonstrating its potential for positive local impact while cultivating the skills students need to thrive in a digital future.
