Expense Recorder (“we”, “our”, or “the App”) is a personal finance management application that helps users automatically track their expenses by reading bank transaction SMS messages stored on their device.

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information.
This Privacy Policy explains:

By installing, accessing, or using Expense Recorder, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

Expense Recorder only collects the minimum necessary information required for providing the expense tracking functionality.

a) User Information

b) SMS Data (Financial Transaction Alerts Only)

The App requests permission to read SMS messages so that it can detect bank transaction alerts.
These messages typically include information such as transaction amount, type (debit/credit), and account reference.

The App does NOT read or use:

• Personal chat messages

• OTP messages

• Promotional or marketing messages

• Social messaging app notifications

Only messages from banks and financial institutions are analyzed.

c) No Other Personal Data is Collected

We do not collect:

• Contacts

• Call logs

• Media files

• Account passwords

• Location

• Device identifiers

3. Purpose of Collecting SMS Data

The SMS data is used strictly and only for the following purposes:

4. Data Processing and Storage

Expense Recorder uses on-device processing, meaning:

• All SMS data extraction happens locally on your device.

• No SMS content is uploaded, transmitted, stored online, or analyzed externally.

• All expense record data is saved inside the App’s Room Database, which is part of Android’s secure internal storage.

• We do not operate any cloud server and do not store any of your data online.

Your data stays on your device only, under your full control.

5. Internet Usage Clarification

The App may use internet access only when the user voluntarily uses the Gemini AI feature inside the app for analysis or suggestions.

• No SMS data, no expense entries, and no personal data is ever sent to Gemini AI or any external service.

• Only manually entered user text used in the AI feature is processed online.

If you choose not to use the AI feature, the app functions fully offline.

6. Data Sharing Policy

We maintain a strict No Data Sharing and No Data Monetization policy.

7. Default SMS Handler Clarification

The App does not:

• Send SMS

• Intercept SMS

• Block SMS

• Manage conversations

This complies with Google Play’s allowed Financial SMS Reader category.

8. User Control and Data Deletion

You have full control over your data.

Stop automatic SMS reading Disable the Auto-SMS feature in the App Settings

Edit or delete expense entries   Use the in-app Edit/Delete features

Clear all app data Android Settings → Apps → Expense Recorder → Storage → Clear Data

Permanently delete all data Uninstall the App

Once you uninstall the App, all your data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

9. Children’s Privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect any data from children.
If you believe a child is using the App, please contact us, and we will assist in removal and data deletion.

10. Data Retention

Data is stored only as long as the App remains installed on your device.
We do not store historical or backup copies on external servers.

11. Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy if required by:

• Feature improvements

• Legal compliance requirements

• Platform (Google Play) policy changes

Any changes will be reflected in the Effective Date above.
Continued use of the App indicates acceptance of changes.
