Friday, June 30, 2023: Florida Finds + Other Updates
Last saturday I returned from my week long florida trip while I was there I found lots of cool things such as bumblebee millipedes, and rusty millipedes. Apart from millipedes I found three species of roach, Australian cockroach, American cockroach, and a singular Suirnam roach. I also decided to grab some palm tree bark to sanitize for my own colonies for hides.
I have saved up some money and sense my mother is giving me a hard time on letting me get more roaches to fulfill my addiction, I am getting my first species of isopod in a few weeks, Cubaris Sp. "Panda King" when I wanted to get some isopods I planned to start with dairy cow, or some powders. But lets face it almost everyone has a culture of those Panda Kings are good starters and fast to breed and much more eye appealing. I will be ordering a simple 10ct and hope they will do well. Anyways enjoy these photograpghs and I will see you next week!

Friday, June 2, 2023: Plans For The Future.
It has always been my dream to own dozens and dozens of roach species which won't come true for a while. But since I have finally gotten down with hisser care I plan to move into new species of roaches other than hissers, I also plan to get into more insects such as isopods, beetles (Darkling beetles), and possibly mantids (Not anytime soon). Continuing down the roach path the next species I plan to go into is Blaberus giganteus the "Giant Cave Roach" IMO they are an amazing species being one of the longest roaches in the hobby, they also have some unique abilities like being able to flutter not to be mixed up with flying vertically.
After some time and I've gotten the care down for B. Giganteus I really am excited to start my breeding project of Gyna lurida "Yellow". Gyna itself is a really interesting species with some awesome-looking roaches the main reason why I want to get a "yellow" lurida stock is so I can create a strain of bright yellow. There are of course many stocks of yellow with some being quite bright, but I want to attempt to create a nice strong brightly colored yellow stock. This project won't be for a while and will take time but will surely be a nice project. I also want to try getting rid of as much brown on the luridas as I can possibly.
There are many more species I have plans for but these are the two species I'm more focused on, here are a few photos from some roach hobbyist with nice photos of B. giganteus, and G. lurida.
