 Exmouth Festival - 2023

It was wonderful to see the Exmouth Festival back in 2022, having been cancelled for the two years in a row due to the Covid pandemic.

Your views on the arts locally 


In March 2022 we were invited to put forward our views on East Devon's cultural scene for the next decade - https://eastdevon.gov.uk/community-engagement/culture-strategy-consultation/. This is all about about East Devon’s cultural scene – including everything from our museums and theatres to art galleries. It all comes as part of a new cultural strategy EDDC is developing which looks to set out an ambitious, ten-year vision and plan of action for how EDDC can develop and deliver creative activities across East Devon. The strategy is being made with the help of consultants Festivals and Events International (FEI).

Call to Exmouth residents to help rejuvenate seafront

An art gallery is encouraging Exmouth residents to join a new project which hopes to rejuvenate a section of the Exmouth seafront. The Abode of Love is a 342-foot long, flood defence in Exmouth and is a popular area for residents and tourists. The Thelma Hulbert Gallery alongside Exmouth artist Anna Fitzgerald, will be creating a ‘To be continued...’ commission at the Abode of Love and wants to hear the opinions from local artists and creatives on what the future of the area should look like.

Arts by the sea? Plans for the Queen's Drive development

Hemingway Design with EDDC held two open events on 13 & 14 November 2019 about proposals for the development of Phase 3 of the Exmouth Queen's Drive area on the seafront.  What was being proposed was set out on display boards, and these are at:

The results of the Hemingway survey of residents and visitors are at https://www.hemingwaydesign.co.uk/documents/77/Exmouth_Survey_Results_FINAL.pdf, and this shows that there was little support for the building of a hotel on this site. Alternative proposals from local residents include plans for an arts/performance space, an interactive environmental discovery centre (telling the story of our unique coastline and estuary) and an eco hub, plus a café, a gift shop, and much, much more.
