NEWS!! Come to our inaugural meetingThursday 2nd July 2026, Exmouth Town Hall: see https://www.facebook.com/events/1016363754484187/
We will be welcoming all who want Exmouth to be cycle and pedestrian friendly, to join us on Thursday July 2nd from 7 PM at the Town Hall. Mike Walton - from the Exeter Cycle Campaign – will give a short inspirational presentation using his experience of 10 years campaigning in Exeter. After Mike’s presentation there will be the opportunity for questions and sharing suggestions for the way forward in Exmouth. This will be followed by informal discussion in one of the nearby pubs!
Mike Walton said “I am looking forward to supporting the Exmouth Cycling and Walking Campaign, by sharing lessons that we have learnt in Exeter. I look forward to the day when Exmouth has traffic free routes for pedestrians and cyclists enabling all, to move around the town safely. This will only be achieved by good planning, supported at all levels of local government.” This will be the inaugural meeting of the Exmouth Cycling and Walking campaign.
Access to the Town Hall will be from 7PM through the side door opening to the car park.
Exmouth walking and cycling campaign is a new group (established 2026), campaigning for investment in and planning for safe walking and cycling routes throughout Exmouth. We are in contact with the Exeter Cycling Campaign, which has kindly offered advice to help get the group off the ground.
Exeter and several other towns in Devon have walking and infrastructure plans, ratified by Devon County Council, ensuring that public money is invested in creating and maintaining safe cycle and pedestrian routes. Unfortunately, Exmouth has no such plan yet, although we are fortunate to have one of the premier parts of the National Cycle Network passing right through the town.
This group aims to connect local people and groups with common interests in improving cycling and walking across the region, to help ensure that we can make the most of the resources we have, and to use local knowledge to ensure we can make the most of any new developments or opportunities as and when they arise in future.
“Providing safe cycle and pedestrian routes will encourage people to walk or cycle around the town . . It will benefit the environment by reducing carbon emissions. It will reduce conflict between cyclists, walkers and motorists, reduce the risk of collisions between cyclists, walkers and motor vehicles, and encourage a more active lifestyle with many health benefits for people of all ages and interests. “ (Mike Rosser, co-founder Exmouth Cycling and Walking Campaign)
