Neuro-Explicit AI and Expert-informed Machine Learning for Engineering and Physical Sciences
at ECML PKDD 2023 (Torino, Italy)
About
This workshop aims to bring together researchers that work at the intersection of machine learning (ML), natural sciences and engineering, specifically working on designing and developing approaches that integrate explicit knowledge (i.e., the knowledge of domain experts that can be systematically formalised and represented). As ML is rapidly transforming many scientific domains, there is a growing interest in studying the synergy between ML and existing explicit knowledge in various downstream applications.
Relevant topic areas include, but are not limited to:
Science-informed machine learning (e.g., Physics-informed machine learning)
Neuro-explicit AI (https://www.neuroexplicit.org/)
Hybrid modelling
Causal models
Active learning / Adaptive experimentation
Logic and reasoning in AI
Modelling dynamical systems
Domain-specific explainable AI
Human-informed machine learning
Data-efficient machine learning
Knowledge representation learning
Symbolic regression
Simulation-based inference and optimisation
Bayesian optimisation
Novel ML solutions within scientific applications (physics, astronomy, earth sciences, material sciences, chemistry, biology, medicine etc.)
