ADVOCACY WORK
Nutrisyon Ni Nanay
This program is a cornerstone of the SDSN Youth's focused efforts in promoting proper family planning and maternal health. Under "Nutrisyon ni Nanay", we aim to empower young mothers, specifically those aged 15 to 25, by providing them with essential knowledge and resources related to family planning and nutrition. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by younger mothers, our program is tailored to address their specific needs and circumstances.
The initiative encompasses a range of services, including educational workshops, access to nutritious food, and health care guidance. These services are designed to educate and support young mothers in making informed decisions about their health and the health of their families. By focusing on this demographic, "Nutrisyon ni Nanay" seeks to foster a generation of healthier families, thereby contributing to the broader goals of sustainable development and community well-being.
SK Ako!
The "SK Ako!" Program represents a significant milestone as the most extensive youth initiative in the history of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK). This online training platform, a collaboration among the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the National Youth Commission (NYC), the Youth Solutions Network, UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network Youth – Philippines (SDSN Youth), and the Innovative Educational Materials Inc. (IEMI), is designed to empower SK youth leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to develop sustainable solutions in their communities during pandemics and disasters. The program's objectives include educating these young leaders about pandemic and disaster issues, enhancing their understanding of frameworks like the Sustainable Development Goals and the SK reform law, and equipping them with the necessary skills to effectively manage their governance structures in pre, during, and post-disaster situations. With a focus on the vital role of youth, specifically the Sangguniang Kabataan, in crisis response, this three-month development project underlines the importance of their contributions in national building and crisis management, both locally and nationally.
