What: ExCITE! (formerly School Library Boot Camp) is an annual professional development opportunity. Each year brings a new theme, new personal connections, and new learning. Textual Literacy is the name of the game for 2020. Learners will dive into the world of reading and engaging for academic and personal growth and discover ways in which to implement the Textual Literacy strand of the SD School Library Standards.

ExCITE! is a hybrid course consisting of both in-person learning and digitally learning. The SD State Library partners with Black Hills State University to offer this hybrid course for undergraduate or graduate credit. This course can be applied to the Library Methods requirement of the BHSU School Library Media minor and the SD DOE Library Media endorsement. College credit/tuition costs are covered via a scholarship through the SD State Library. Travel costs are covered by participants.

When: Face-to-face on Sept. 30, 2020 then online through the month of October. ExCITE! 2020 is held in conjunction with the annual SDLA (South Dakota Library Association) conference; however, it is NOT an official part of the conference. Conference attendance is not required to attend ExCITE!
