If you have concerns about unsafe work practices that are putting the individuals you support at risk, you have a duty to raise your concerns with the appropriate person.
If you are asked to cover up mistakes, the person telling you to do this is committing a disciplinary offence.
You must never stay silent or agree not to say anything.
You need to follow your organisation’s Whistleblowing policy and procedures.
The law protects whistleblowers from harassment and bullying if they have raised a concern.
If the situation is not dealt with by your organisation, you have the right to bring a claim to an employment tribunal. However, you must be able to evidence that you have followed your organisation’s internal policy and procedures for raising grievances first and that this did not resolve the situation.
