This session aims to enable paramedics, HCPs, and Emergency Ambulance Crews to understand the relevant pathophysiology of asthma.on

Summary

• Acute asthma may rapidly deteriorate into a life-threatening emergency.

• Rapid treatment is vital to prevent cardiac arrest. In asthmatic cardiac arrest, suspect tension pneumothorax.

• In life-threatening asthma, oxygenation and adrenaline IM should be administered immediately.

• "Acute severe asthma" is probably the most common presentation for pre-hospital clinicians.

• Be familiar with your Excel EMS clinical guidance and relevant treatment pathways to access alternative care.
