A bookplate, or ex libris, is a label designed to be pasted inside a book as a means of identifying the owner. A good bookplate can also enhance the appearance of a volume. Since the fifteenth century distinguished artists and designers have given serious attention to this art form. Like the first printed books, the first printed bookplates originated in Germany, around 1450.
Your bookplates not only reflect your pride of ownership of your collection, but also remind forgetful borrowers who to return your book to!
