Jeroen's figshare contains a few handy write-ups relevant to the course. Specifically:
Ecospace Primer - A 50+ slide presentation that covers most of the key Ecospace parameters and their use;
Spatial temporal data framework users' guide - a user guide to the spatial temporal data framework.
We will be using a preview of EwE version 6.7 for this course. Prior to the course, please install the latest (and greatest?!) version of EwE 6.7 which can be downloaded here.
⚠️Note that the EwE desktop version (still) relies on the venerable Microsoft Access database engine. This poses a challenge to installing EwE:
EwE 32-bit can only work with 32-bit Microsoft Office installations;
EwE 64-bit can only work with 64-bit Microsoft Office installations.
Install and run EwE. If you have trouble opening a specific EwE model or creating a new model, then your system does not have the correct Access drivers installed. Proceed to the official Microsoft site to download and install the Access redistributables, in the same bitness as your installed EwE (and Microsoft Office, if already installed on your system).
On Wednesday afternoon we will be taking a brief dive into programming with the EwE source code. If you are interested in following along, please make sure you have the following installed on your (Windows) computer:
Microsoft Visual Studio 2022 Community Edition
Download from the course folder. Run the installler, and when prompted, make sure the option ".NET desktop development" is selected
The EwE source code
During the course, the EwE source code was provided to students. If you are interested in obtaining the source code too, please contact us at ewedevteam [at] gmail.com.
On Friday we'll work with the Spatial Temporal Data Framework. The framework is available under an EwE Pro license, but you a 90-day license file was provided for exploring the Pro features as part of this course.
