EVHS Synapsis provides members of all backgrounds an opportunity to gain real-life experience in the field of medicine for a fraction of the cost offered elsewhere. We will cover different parts of the human body (past themes including cardiology, neuroscience, cancer, and immunotherapy) or interesting biology concepts (homeostasis, sleep, addiction). These meetings will be mandatory for admission to events that are based on them, such as dissections, guest lectures, and more! Guest allow members to create connections with doctors, medical students, and workers in biology related industry. These connections can go forward to serve students in countless ways for all of high school.
The Synapsis magazine, Brainstorm, releases three issues every school year discussing ethics, research, and discoveries within the fields of medicine and biology. It is the perfect platform for high schoolers to write about things they are interested in and learn at the same time about scientific writing. However, this is not the only place you can get published! We work with the Young Scientists Journal to get our members published as well. You even get the chance to do original computational research and get published in the Hub Journal which has over 70,000 readers.

These interactive sessions provide high schoolers a platform they never had before.
Service provides members with powerful experiences in the biomedical field- all while serving our communities. By working with teachers across the district and developing curriculum which aligns with Common Core standards to help the community, we bring our expertise to middle schoolers to and build a capstone project focused on biology, by using concepts and ideas they had previously learned. You can also tutor students or work with senior citizens who're now more isolated than ever. Additionally, our partnership with the Red Cross allows us to provide training and certification for our members.
