Medical Staff Associations (MSA) represent the voice of physicians, midwives, surgeons, and dentists in BC hospitals & acute care programs.
Part of the MSA role is to oversee local Facility Engagement governance and engagement activities on behalf of their medical staff members, and in partnership with their health authorities, under funding negotiated through Doctors of BC & the Special Services Committee (SSC).
The Physician Master Agreement sets the guidelines for these funds, and MSAs and their health authority partners are supported in their engagement work by provincial Engagement Partners and a Facility and Community Engagement team at Doctors of BC.
As an initiative of the SSC, Facility Engagement was created in 2014 to support medical staff working in facilities across BC to participate in health care planning and solutions.
It creates pathways to meaningful collaboration among medical staff and health authorities on shared priorities, ultimately to improve the delivery of patient care and clinical work environment.

As Project Manager, Dana acts to help the EVH MSA strengthen collaboration and drive quality improvement with health authorities, in line with the FE Initiative and MOU. She also supports the organization of RCME events in Fernie.
A former RN specialized in cardiac care, Dana moved to Fernie in 2018 with her husband to raise their young family as he succeeded a busy family practice. She has been supporting the EVH MSA & RCME since 2023, and is motivated by a first-hand understanding of the pressure & work-load faced by rural healthcare providers and their families. Hobbies include biking, snowboarding, baking, & organizing anything she can get her hands on.
