Nithya Ramakrishnan

I'm an inter-disciplinary science researcher focusing in the area of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. Currently I'm a Post Doctoral Researcher in the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in the Biosciences and Bioengineering department. I presently work on regulatory epigenomics involving computational analysis of histone modification data and mathematical modeling of inheritance .

I completed my PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in November 2018. My Doctoral dissertation titled "Advanced Information Theory for the Analysis of Biological Data" involves computational techniques employed to the classical Intron -Exon segmentation in DNA as well as prediction of cancer based on DNA methylation.

I love coding and debugging computer programs. The primary programming and scripting languages and softwares that I use are R, Java, Python and Matlab

I firmly believe that no scientific concept can be investigated in isolation and that the pursuit of Nature's ways requires knowledge and expertise in various disciplines. When I'm not indulging my curiosity in science or programming, I'm usually busy playing magic carpet games with my daughter or reading from an eclectic pool of Tamil and English books.

I also blog my musings here.
