Digestion in animals is the process of obtaining nutrients into the bloodstream. Bull Sharks have a pretty usual digestive process which is similar to ours.
Diet
Bull Sharks have a carnivorous diet, which means they strictly eat animals. An average diet for a Bull Shark would consist of, fish (including other sharks), dolphins, turtles, birds, molluscs, echinoderms and even terrestrial mammals including antelope, cattle, tree sloths, dogs, rats and disturbingly humans. Their diets tend to change as they get older, younger Bull Sharks lean more towards eating fish, whereas larger ones are more sharks and rays. When it comes to hunting prey, Bull Sharks are known to go solo, however there have been rare spotting's of 2 hunting together. Since they have very bad vision, Bull Sharks will hit prey with their head to know what they are eating before going in for the kill.
Anatomy
The digestive journey through a bull shark is pretty standard and similar to our own digestive process. Here are the steps:
1. Mouth
Food is broken down into smaller pieces by extremely sharp teeth
2. Esophagus
Connects mouth to stomach
3. Stomach
"U" shaped
Contains very strong enzymes and acids
At this point bones are thrown up because the intestine opening is small
4. Intestines
Known for being very short in length but large in surface area
This is what allows them to slow down metabolism
Also speeds up rate food can be digested and absorbed into blood
5. Anus
Excess waste is released
