Thanks to the support of Manchester Independents, Every Brain is creating Tangent: a collection of short stories. Tangent will be launched in August 2021, alongside Every Brain's guide for theatres and cultural organisations on supporting neurodiversity. Tangent will be available to download for free in both written and audio formats.
More information on Every Brain can be found here.
The selected writers will have the support of Every Brain's artistic team and a writing mentor to support with idea development, creation and editing of the work. Each writer will write a new short story, inspired by their experience of neurodivergency, of no more than 5000 words. These stories will be for readers aged 16+. The stories can be of any genre.
This opportunity is open to people who do not yet have an established practice in writing or are new to short-story writing. The selected writers will each receive a fee of £500 for the creation and delivery of this work. The work will be complete by July 24th, 2021.
Applicants are welcome to apply as individuals or collectives. For collectives, at least 50% of the collective must be neurodivergent and based in Greater Manchester.
What we're looking for: Passion and understanding around neurodiversity. Writers interested in telling stories in innovative ways.
