Ms. Jungrim "Victoria" Yea, MFA (Art Instructor/Associate Director)
Victoria is an artist from Louisiana with 10 years of experience in teaching art. She has a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Drawing from Louisiana State University. Her focus is on the symbolic idea of the moon rooted in Byzantine art and abstract expressionism of the astronomy landscape.
Color is a key for her paintings. She implements color usage during the painting process to emphasize the luminous and ethereal volumes throughout dark- toned works, suggestive of the silent stillness of outer space. She also juxtaposes passages of heavy impasto with thin glazes. Her strongest fields include still life, figure drawing, and landscape in a realistic or an abstract way.
There were many group/solo exhibitions she participated in since 2006; Senior Painter Group Exhibition, The Studio dei Leoni, Baton Rouge, LA (2006), Swan Palace Exhibition, LSU [AIGS, Student Public Service Poster Competition, New Orleans, LA] (2007), Collective Art Exhibition, Louisiana State Archive (2008), LSU Graduate Painters, Louisiana State Archive, LA (2009), MFA thesis show, Foster Gallery, LSU, LA (2010).
She currently resides in Weymouth, MA with her husband, teaching art and crafts for children (5-10 years old) at YMCA. She also teaches art at Adams Montessori School with the early education and care (EEC) teacher certification at MA. To give back to the community, she is also volunteering at the Peabody Museum at Harvard (Family Education Programs) for the photography of educational archeological materials since 2011.
