In the Event of My Death maps the day of Jeremy's funeral in sunny Seattle, Washington. His bandmate and best friend, Sam, and his sister, Mandy, discover that Jeremy left them a series of quick-witted video messages which launches them into a packed day of clues through their shared memories, encountering a few new faces and few old places. A flash through Jeremy's life reminds them that it's fragile, that love comes in many forms, and that hope is a possibility after any experience of loss.

Writer / director, Brian Scott Steele wrote In the Event of My Death after 14 years of working professionally in post-production and editing for film and television in Los Angeles. After studying media communication and film at a liberal arts university in Ohio, and obsessively making student films every semester, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a dream. A familiar dream common among LA transplants, yet one he'll never stop pursuing. His work as an editor shapes the way he tells visual stories, with a philosophy that the edit is simply the last rewrite. Creative expression is his highest goal, and most importantly, a means to tell stories that encourage human connection.
In the Event of My Death is a true passion project both because I couldn't wait a darn second longer to pursue the work of writing and directing, and because this story marries my love for independent film and indie music, and to my commitment to friendships and interpersonal connection as the only way to be deeply human. We will all encounter the death of someone close, and my hope is that the lightness this story brings to a topic like death will help viewers discover that cathartic way to "laugh through the tears."
