Evelyn studied art at the Victorian College of the Arts (now University of Melbourne).

The subjects of the painting includes landscapes and cityscapes, sometimes portraits. Whatever she paints, she aims to tell a story and capture the beauty of the scene. she uses mainly gouache and oil paints.

She is a founding member of Melbourne Urban Sketchers, whose members paint regularly in Melbourne and while travelling. She has been actively involved in art groups ; eg. painting on location outdoors with a plein air group, painting portraits with life models with the Victorian Artist Society and Brighton Art Society.
