Teaching Portfolio

A comprehensive collection of my work I have done through my student teaching, as well as during my time as a substitute teacher.

Student teaching was a time when I was working hard to develop my skills in lesson planning, curriculum, and my own style of teaching. I found that I love to do projects and give students a lot of visual, hands-on learning opportunities.

'My Island Project'

This was the example I made for students to see when we started on this project

Student Projects

Here, 5th grade students are showcasing their knowledge of the elements of a map, as well as their own experiences and creativity!

Above is our Reading Race! We outlined where the race in Alaska takes place, watched videos about it, and read about it.

The more they read, the further they went in the race, we had students reading every day with enthusiasm.

We had each student color their own racing dog and they would 'run' the race by reading!

During substitute teaching in Alaska, I stayed at the same school where I student taught. This allowed me to really get to know the environment, teachers, classes, and most importantly: the students. I built a great relationship with the community and this allowed for my time substituting to be rich and full of learning experiences for me as much as the students. I am now following that same trend again, becoming a permanent substitute teacher at Kenwood Middle School.
