Mu Phi Epsilon (MPE) Gamma Sigma Chapter, Lambda Alpha National Anthropology Honor Society Nu Chapter, National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS)
Becoming a member was the first step of becoming a leader on Gamma Sigma. Evelyn will be coordinating the chapter as MuPhi President '22-'23 this upcoming fall and Spring.
Evelyn has been part of multiple performance groups, both in and out of school.
Evelyn performed at the Walt Disney Concert Hall on August 20, 2023.
In the Band, Evelyn was able to apply her skills, learning various repertoire. She plays both alto and baritone saxophone for the band.
On the Calligraphy Saxophone Quartet, not only does Evelyn play the Baritone Saxophone, but she is the founder and coordinator of the group. Summer 2022, Evelyn got the opportunity to study and learn from multiple world class renounced saxophonists. She developed her skills in ensemble, quartet, duet, and individual settings. This furthered her skills and set a new path to her career as a saxophonist.
Evelyn Guzman plans on continuing to organize and coordinate student led activities such as the Calligraphy Saxophone Quartet. She hopes to continue making aspiring music and plan gigs. Like in the Quartet, in MuPhi Epsilon, she plans to take her leadership skills to the next level by bringing new ideas to the table that would benefit members in the music department of California State University Dominguez Hills. She also plans on continue growing as a musician through her alto, baritone, and now soprano saxophone playing.
High School Experiences 2016-2019
During her time as Miss Friendly El Monte/ South El Monte 2019, she got the opportunity to participate in a variety of community service events, meeting local officials, networking with local businesses, and serving the community through service, along side the El Monte and South El Monte Chamber Of Commerce.
Evelyn was part of the El Monte Marhcing band for three consecutive years (2015-2018). As a member, she performed in over a dozen marching band and concert band competitions, attended football games, pep rallies, and concerts. In her sophomore year of high school, she was promoted as Drum Major (DM) for two years. During her time as DM, she atteneded Drum Major camp USA where she sharpened her conducting skills, and won ribbons of recognition for her skills.
