About me
About me
An editing timeline is like a puzzle, that I get to shape, and has infinite possibilities. This can be daunting, but I find it to be incredibly rewarding.
Since my first encounter with film production in middle school, I’ve been captivated by the transformative power of bringing ideas to life on screen. From those early days, I felt that filmmaking is more than just storytelling; it's an engaging process that connects imagination with the physical world, allowing visions to unfold to those who can’t see them. This early spark of creativity has fueled my ongoing journey through film, pushing me to develop my skills in a medium that consistently inspires and challenges me.
I was fortunate enough to attend an award-winning film program in high school. This pivotal experience expanded my understanding of production, especially editing, and allowed me to work on diverse projects. A personal highlight was receiving a nomination for music video editing from the Northwest chapter of the Television Academy. This recognition confirmed that my passion for editing was something worth pursuing.
Today, as a Film and Media Production major at Arizona State University’s Sidney Poitier New American Film School, I’ve immersed myself further into post-production. Specializing in video editing has not only sharpened my technical skills but also deepened my understanding of narrative flow, pacing, and the balance required in post-production to create something that feels compelling. Editing, to me, is not just arranging footage, it's weaving together the emotional core of a film that has the potential to go any which way. It’s shaping and refining how an audience will experience and connect with the story.
While honing my skills in film school, my seasonal job at Guardianship Services of Seattle has also provided invaluable lessons. Though unrelated to film, my role in assisting with projects like annual reports and electronic filing has taught me the importance of organization, attention to detail, and collaboration, all traits that feed into my work as a film editor. It’s this blend of creativity and structured discipline that continues to define my approach to filmmaking.
My ultimate goal is to bring to life stories that resonate, engage, challenge existing ideas, and leave a lasting impact on audiences. Whether working on short films, music videos, or full-length features, I aim to push boundaries and discover new ways to connect through this medium. Film editing is my canvas, and through it, I intend to amplify voices, evoke emotions, and create moments of magic.
