Hello, my name is Eva Pignatiello. I am a graduate of Grand Canyon University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. I am passionate about pursuing a Master’s in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Since 2021, I have been working in education as an aide, gaining valuable experience in multi-disability classrooms and as a one-to-one aide.
Education
During my time at Grand Canyon University,I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Special Education from Grand Canyon University, where I gained valuable skills in inclusive teaching, curriculum design, and classroom management. The program emphasized supporting diverse learners, creating Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and using data to monitor student progress.
Through hands-on experiences like student teaching, I applied these principles in real-world settings, fostering my passion for inclusive and engaging classrooms. I plan to continue my education at Grand Canyon University by pursuing a Master’s degree in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
Experience
Before my student teaching, I worked as an aide in a multi-disability classroom with students aged 6 to 9. I primarily supported one or two students at a time, focusing on discrete trials or academic work tailored to their individual needs. During this time, I gained valuable experience in managing behaviors and developed effective de-escalation techniques to maintain a positive and supportive learning environment.
To complete my education, I engaged in a four-month student teaching experience, working with two different mentor teachers in diverse classroom settings. For the first half, I collaborated with a general education teacher, where I had the opportunity to fully take over her science units. I planned, taught, and assessed engaging science lessons that aligned with state standards and fostered student curiosity. Additionally, I assisted with all other subjects, gaining hands-on experience in differentiated instruction and classroom management to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners.
In the second half of my student teaching, I worked alongside a special education teacher in a pullout resource classroom, supporting 1st and 2nd graders. During this time, I completely took over the pullout program, creating and implementing lesson plans tailored to the needs of individual students. I focused on foundational skills such as reading and writing, incorporating strategies like Orton-Gillingham to support literacy development. This experience deepened my understanding of working with students who require additional academic and behavioral support.

Outside of teaching, I have a wide range of hobbies and passions that enrich my life. Astronomy has always fascinated me, especially the Moon and its mesmerizing phases. On clear nights, I often find myself stargazing, inspired by the vastness of the universe and the stories hidden in the constellations. Recently, I’ve taken up crocheting, which has quickly become one of my favorite hobbies. I love the sense of accomplishment that comes from creating something handmade, whether it’s a cozy scarf or a plush toy. Spending time outdoors is another passion of mine, particularly hiking in the winter. There’s something magical about the tranquility of snowy trails and the crisp, invigorating winter air. These landscapes bring me a sense of calm and inspiration. I also have a deep connection with animals, and wolves hold a special place in my heart. Their strength, loyalty, and sense of community resonate with me and inspire my admiration. Whether I’m learning about wildlife or simply spending time in nature, I feel most at home when surrounded by the beauty of the natural world.
Sample work
During my student teaching, I guided students through a project addressing the issue of overpopulation and its impact on farming, particularly the challenge of limited space for growing food. The students were tasked with creating a poster that presented a creative solution to this problem.
One group of students proposed an innovative idea: making it mandatory for every apartment building to have a rooftop garden. These gardens would provide fresh produce for the residents, promoting sustainability and maximizing the use of urban spaces. The project allowed students to think critically about real-world problems, collaborate on solutions, and express their ideas through visual presentations.
