The Bahá'í Community of Evanston is one of thousands of Bahá'í communities around the world dedicated to putting the teachings of the Bahá'í Faith into action. These teachings inspire individuals and communities to transform their own lives while contributing to the advancement of an ever more just, peaceful, and united civilization.
At the heart of the Bahá'í Faith is the conviction that humanity is one family. Its teachings explore enduring principles such as the oneness of God, the oneness of religion, and the oneness of humanity; the elimination of prejudice; the inherent nobility of every human being; the progressive revelation of religious truth; and the cultivation of spiritual qualities such as love, justice, generosity, humility, and trustworthiness.
The Bahá'í teachings also emphasize the integration of worship and service, the equality of women and men, the harmony of science and religion, the central role of justice in all human affairs, the importance of universal education, and the development of patterns of life that strengthen the relationships among individuals, communities, and institutions. Together, these principles provide a framework for humanity's collective progress toward a more mature, unified, and flourishing civilization.
The Bahá'ís of Evanston are engaged in a process of spiritual community building that is underway around the world. Through an educational process that connects children, youth and adults with the transformative power of the Word of God, everyone advances together on a path of learning, action and reflection.
Our devotional meetings, classes for children and teens, study circles, and other activities generally take place in homes, community centers, and other locations around Evanston.
This process of personal and collective transformation is open to everyone, and everyone is warmly welcomed to participate–being a member is not required. The Bahá'í Faith places great emphasis on the independent investigation of truth, so everyone’s path of exploration, worship and service is respected and honored.
