If you want a waterless, maintenance-free cooling solution for your powersports machine that eliminates corrosion risks entirely, choose EVANS Coolant Powersports Waterless; if you need a ready-to-use, long-life antifreeze specifically engineered for Asian passenger vehicles like Honda or Hyundai, choose Zerex Asian Vehicle Blue.
The choice between these two products isn't about finding the "best" coolant in a vacuum; it is about matching the fluid to the machine and the environment. One is a specialized, high-performance fluid designed to keep engines running cool without the complications of water-based systems, while the other is a pre-mixed, OEM-specific formula built for the longevity of modern Asian cars. You cannot swap them. Putting a car coolant in a dirt bike is a recipe for disaster, just as trying to use a waterless motorcycle fluid in a sedan will void warranties and fail to meet industry specifications.
• EVANS Coolant Powersports Waterless: Its biggest strength is being 100% water-free, which completely eradicates corrosion, liner erosion, and cavitation issues in high-stress engines; its trade-off is the rigorous installation requirement where every drop of old water-based coolant must be flushed out first. This pick is for motocross riders, ATV owners, and snowmobile enthusiasts who want race-proven protection and zero maintenance.
• Zerex Asian Vehicle Blue: Its biggest strength is being a ready-to-use, 50/50 prediluted formula with a five-year/150,000-mile lifespan tailored for Asian manufacturers like Kia, Nissan, and Hyundai; its trade-off is that it contains water and requires standard system maintenance over time. This pick is for drivers of Japanese and Korean sedans, SUVs, and trucks who need an easy fill-and-forget solution.
This product is built for the extreme demands of off-road and powersport applications. The core philosophy behind EVANS is simple but powerful: remove the water. Water is the enemy of the internal combustion engine in high-heat environments because it boils, freezes, causes rust, and creates vapor pockets that lead to hot spots. By designing a coolant with no water content, this formula effectively eliminates corrosion, liner erosion, and the dreaded water pump cavitation that plagues traditional glycol mixtures.
If you ride motocross bikes, trail bikes, Enduro machines, quads, ATVs, UTVs, or snowmobiles, you know that your engine runs hotter than a car engine ever could. In the rain or dust, the last thing you want is a cooling system failure caused by boiling coolant or frozen lines. This waterless approach minimizes electrolysis issues and reduces long-term maintenance costs because there is no water to cause scale or rust inside the block.
However, this performance comes with a specific commitment from the owner. The instructions are clear: during installation, you must ensure all old water-based coolant and water are removed before installing this product. This is not a "top-up" fluid. If you introduce even a small amount of water into the system, you compromise the waterless nature of the fluid, potentially leading to boiling points dropping significantly. This makes it ideal for someone willing to perform a thorough flush and fill, but terrible for someone looking for a quick weekend fix. It is a premium solution for those who treat their vehicle as a precision instrument rather than just transportation.

On the other side of the aisle, we have a product designed for the everyday driver of an Asian-made vehicle. Zerex Asian Vehicle Blue is formulated to replace the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) fluid in vehicles from Honda, Nissan, KIA, Hyundai, and others that require a blue, silicate-free HOAT antifreeze. The chemistry here is Hybrid Organic Acid Technology, which is silicate and borate free. This specific formulation helps protect against harmful scale and deposits while providing protection for all cooling system metals from rust and corrosion.
What sets this apart immediately is the convenience factor. It is a 50/50 prediluted, ready-to-use fluid. You do not need to mix water and concentrate yourself. You simply pour it in, and it is ready to handle the job. The packaging indicates a significant volume, often sold in packs of two gallons, ensuring you have enough for most standard cooling system capacities. The chemistry is backed by strict adherence to industry and OEM specifications, including standards from Hyundai/KIA, Mitsubishi, JIS, Ford, ASTM, and Federal Specification. This means it is chemically compatible with the radiators, hoses, and gaskets found in these specific vehicles.
The durability claim is also substantial, offering a five-year or 150,000-mile service life. This is a long-life formula designed to reduce the frequency of coolant changes compared to older green or orange coolants. It also includes a bittering agent, denatonium benzoate, which acts as a safety measure to prevent accidental ingestion. This product is perfect for the owner who wants to follow the recommended maintenance schedule for their Honda Civic, Toyota Camry, or Hyundai Sonata without needing to understand the intricacies of chemical mixing ratios. It is a straightforward, reliable choice for on-road driving in various climates.
• Best for powersports engines → EVANS Coolant Powersports Waterless. Only this fluid is explicitly designed for the high-RPM, high-heat environment of dirt bikes, ATVs, and snowmobiles where water-based fluids struggle to manage heat transfer and prevent cavitation.
• Best for Asian passenger cars → Zerex Asian Vehicle Blue. This is the only option listed that meets the specific OEM specifications for Honda, Nissan, Kia, and Hyundai vehicles, ensuring compatibility with their unique alloy requirements.
• Best for zero-corrosion potential → EVANS Coolant Powersports Waterless. Because it contains absolutely no water, the risk of liner erosion and electrolysis is virtually eliminated, a critical factor for engines that sit idle for months between seasons.
• Best for ease of installation → Zerex Asian Vehicle Blue. Being prediluted and ready-to-use, it requires no flushing of the old water-based system (beyond a standard drain) and no complex mixing ratios, making it accessible for DIYers.
• Best for long service intervals → Zerex Asian Vehicle Blue. With a stated five-year/150,000-mile lifespan, it is designed for the long haul on paved roads, whereas EVANS focuses on performance durability rather than time-based expiration.
• Best for extreme heat resistance → EVANS Coolant Powersports Waterless. Without water to boil, the boiling point is significantly higher than any water-based mixture, offering superior protection during intense riding conditions.
• Best for cost-effective replacement → Zerex Asian Vehicle Blue. While I cannot quote prices, the fact that it is a mass-market OEM replacement for common vehicles suggests it is priced for regular maintenance cycles, unlike the specialized racing-grade EVANS.
• Best for rainy season reliability → EVANS Coolant Powersports Waterless. The absence of water means freezing is not a concern regardless of how cold the wet, rainy weather gets, keeping the engine protected when moisture levels are highest.
In my opinion, if you are asking me to pick one for a specific scenario, I would buy EVANS Coolant Powersports Waterless for any powersport application. The engineering logic of removing water entirely to prevent corrosion and boiling is too compelling for high-performance machines that endure extreme thermal stress. It offers a peace of mind that water-based fluids simply cannot match, especially for riders who face harsh conditions.
However, for the average driver of a Japanese or Korean car, I would recommend sticking with Zerex Asian Vehicle Blue. It is the right tool for the job, meeting all the necessary OEM specs and offering a convenient, long-lasting solution for daily commuting. Neither is "better" universally; they serve completely different masters. But if you are looking for ultimate protection for a vehicle that sees heavy use, particularly in the rainy season where temperature swings and moisture are constant threats, the waterless technology of EVANS provides a level of security that standard fluids just cannot offer.
No. These fluids have fundamentally different chemistries and purposes. Mixing a waterless, specialized powersport coolant with a water-based, silicate-free automotive coolant will compromise both, likely causing gelation, poor heat transfer, and potential engine damage.
It is specifically formulated to replace OEM fluid in Asian make vehicles such as Honda, Nissan, Kia, and Hyundai. Using it in European or American vehicles that require different G12, G13, or OAT formulations may not meet the required specifications and could void warranties.
Yes. Failure to completely flush the system of water will negate the benefits of the waterless formula and can lead to overheating.
According to the product information, this long-life formula provides protection for up to 5 years or 150,000 miles, assuming standard operating conditions and no leaks or contamination occur within the system.
