Third Sunday of Lent:
The Veneration of the Holy Cross
The icon above is the most recognized of the Veneration of the Holy Cross. As you can see in the background of the icon, the Church of the Resurrection in Jerusalem is presented. The Church of the Resurrection was established and dedicated by Emperor Constantine. Patriarch Macarius is centered, raising the cross for all to see and venerate. On either side of the Patriarch, deacons stand paying respect.
