Evan Shelline (Evan Mark Shelline) served about a decade in the U.S. Navy, including about six years with the SEAL Teams, with two deployments to Iraq with SEAL Team 4. He is the founder and president of VETTED, a service-disabled veteran-owned small business in Troy, Michigan that provides in-home care for veterans in Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties. He founded The Veteran Muster: All Present and Accounted For, chairs the Veteran Advisory Committee at Lily Hospice in Troy, and is Senior Vice Commander of Sgt. Stanley F. Romanowski VFW Post 6896.
Short episodes for veterans who stopped talking about their service years ago, and for the families who would like to understand them: peer support, how to make a Buddy Check with a veteran you know, what the men and women who served in Korea and Vietnam are carrying as they become our nation's oldest Veterans, and leadership lessons from the SEAL Teams. Episode 1: Evan Shelline at Studio 281, why Veterans go quiet, and when to make a call (9 minutes).

Evan's ask for Veterans Day 2026: call one veteran you know and ask how he or she is doing. Five minutes. Pick one veteran, a parent, an uncle, a neighbor, somebody from church or from the VFW or American Legion post. Call, don't text. Ask how they're doing, then wait. Ask one question about their service if they seem open to it. End with a plan: a visit, a meal, another call next week. If the veteran you call is in crisis, dial 988 and press 1 for the Veterans Crisis Line, or text 838255.
