Workshop information

We would like to invite you to participate in the 1st “EuroHPC Workshop on Malleability in HPC” at the Technical University of Munich on September 5th and 6th. We are planning an interactive event that will help to align the research and production direction of multiple EuroHPC projects, including DEEP-SEA, ADMIRE, REGALE and TIME-X.

Malleability on large-scale supercomputers is part of many EuroHPC projects and poses highly interdisciplinary challenges with respect to the full system stack, new scheduling strategies, applications supporting malleability, etc. To ensure a long-lasting impact of the efforts around all individual EuroHPC projects, this workshop will be a hands-on session around the following malleability topics:

  • Application examples

  • Programming models for malleability (MPI, FlexMPI, DRMLib, Task-based, etc.)

  • Relation to Coscheduling, in particular for heterogeneous systems

  • Malleability across the full HPC stack (OpenMP, MPI, PMIx)

  • Scheduler for malleability

  • Tools for malleability / Tools despite malleability

This workshop is planned to be an amplifier of collaborations around malleability. Therefore, we ask each participating institution / EuroHPC project to give at least one mini-presentation of up to 10 minutes (less is more!) about their past, current and future work with respect to malleability, as well as to identify current gaps and/or interfaces. This will be followed by breakout discussion groups around particular topics decided during the workshop with results to be presented again after the breakout gatherings.

The goal of the workshop is to gain a common understanding of the use cases and their requirements, to establish common shared terminology and to identify elements that can be moved to a standardization process, like via the MPI API.

Registration

We like to ask for your registration until August 15th 2022 (but please at your earliest convenience) at the following URL:
