We understand the importance of investing in our community. Over the past 18 years, euphoria has had the privilege of financially supporting over 40 Upstate charities who focus on sustenance, education through performing arts, and/or aid for children.
While euphoria shines a spotlight on culinary excellence and the charm for which Greenville is known, one of our main missions is to cook up goodwill for our community. Since 2006, our non-profit festival not only makes a substantial economic impact on the city year after year, but proceeds from euphoria are distributed through annual grants to local charitable organizations.

Health and happiness are often linked, sometimes even in etymologies. Nowadays euphoria generally refers to happiness, but it derives from euphoros, a Greek word that means "healthy." Given that root, it's not surprising that in its original English uses euphoria was a medical term. Its entry in an early 18th-century dictionary explains it as "the well-bearing of the Operation of a Medicine; that is, when the Sick Person finds himself eas'd or reliev'd by it." Modern physicians still use the term, but they aren't likely to prescribe something that will cause it. In contemporary medicine and psychology, euphoria can describe abnormal or inappropriate feelings such as those caused by an illicit drug or an illness.

When burning your candle for the first time, allow it to burn for 2 to 3 hours, until the top layer of the wax has completely melted. This will prevent the wax from tunneling around the wick. When burning the candle after the first burn, do not let it burn for over 3 hours at a time.
Ideally, we recommend keeping the wick trimmed to 1/4 inch at all times to prevent the candle from emitting smoke or the wick falling into the wax.
After each burn, see that the wick is centered in the wax. This will also ensure that the glass does not overheat. The wick and flame should never be touching the glass. When approaching the end of the candle, leave inch of wax unburned and ensure you are not burning the candle for more than 3 hours. The glass can get overheated without the presence of wax and break.

Drugs of abuse have in common the fact that they serve as biological rewards. They presumably do so because of their ability to activate endogenous brain circuitry. By determining the brain circuitry activated by rewarding drug injections, much can be learned about the degree to which there is a common basis for the abuse liability of seemingly different drugs. The brain circuitry activated by two classes of abused drugs, psychomotor stimulants and opiates, is now partially understood; the current evidence suggests a shared mechanism of stimulant reward and opiate reward. The identified portion of the circuitry involves dopamine-containing cells of the ventral tegmental area and their fiber projections to the cells of the nucleus accumbens. Morphine activates these cells in the region of the cell bodies; it may have direct actions on receptors imbedded in the dopaminergic cell membrane, or it may act on afferent terminals that synapse on the dopaminergic cell bodies or dendrites. Cocaine and amphetamine act at the terminals of the dopaminergic fibers to nucleus accumbens and perhaps other structures. The shared activation of the dopaminergic input to nucleus accumbens accounts for the behaviorally activating and the rewarding effects of both stimulants and opiates (the opiate stimulant action is not widely known because it is usually masked by depressant actions of opiates in other, antagonistic, brain circuits). This receptor population is anatomically distinct from the population mediating the rewarding effects of opiates in nondependent animals.
