I was born in India and was brought up in America. I did a portion of my undergrad studies at University of Maryland College Park. I completed the rest of my undergrad and graduate studies in the West Indies at Metropolitan University College of Medicine. I moved to Chicago to do my clinical rotations. As of August 2021, I am a MD graduate! I believe research is a way to expand the mind and a great way to gain some vital skill sets to help me progress in my career choices.  I am thankful and grateful for the opportunity to be working at RFUMS in the Hwang Lab! Some of my hobbies include painting, singing, and annoying my cat Patchy!

Hi! I was born in Singapore but grew up in the US. I pursued my undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Pre-Medicine at UChicago. I joined Dr. Hwang's lab because of my passion for the neuroscience of neurological diseases and of the brain functions we utilize in our everyday lives. My interests include neuroscience, medicine, music, and running. I am eager to contribute to the ongoing research projects at Dr. Hwang's lab and to connect with everyone in the team!

Hello! My name is Sophia, and I am a research assistant in Dr. Hwang’s lab. I grew up near Chicago and then moved to Baltimore where I studied neuroscience with a minor in psychology at Johns Hopkins University. I’m very interested in molecular biology and its applications in neuroscience. I joined this lab to learn more about how the brain functions and how activation of certain regions can influence behavior. Outside of lab, I can be found hanging with my cats, singing, and hiking. I am so happy to be a part of this team.

I am pursing a Neuroscience and a Data Science degree in Lake Forest College currently. I enjoy conducting research a lot and I hope to explore further in this path. Outside of lab, I like dancing, hiking, and journaling.

Hello! I am a Chicago native, growing up in the northwest suburb of Palatine. I completed my B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I worked in Dr. Best-Popescu's lab imaging primary neuron cultures for TBI research. I am so excited to do live mouse imaging in Dr. Hwang's lab! Outside of schooling, I enjoy hiking, photography, and watching movies, especially horror!
