Research

My current philosophical work centers on two questions:

(1) Science from Afar: How do scientists obtain knowledge about objects and systems to which they have little or no direct access? This project involves looking closely at what characterizes scientific experiments and how scientists investigate unobservable entities.

(2) Ethics and the Social Cost of Carbon (SCC): How should ethical considerations inform the cost of carbon for climate change policy? This project problematizes the current SCC as a policy tool and investigates whether it makes it too difficult to incorporate important ethical considerations in our decision-making.
