Is there a plan(et) B?
Climate change and environmental protection concern us all. Each of us can contribute to a healthier environment with our behavior. Only together can we ensure that our planet is preserved for many more generations to come.
The main goal of our project was to design material that sharpens or increases the awareness of younger students, thereby permanently strengthening their sense of responsibility for the environment. They should recognize the impact their daily actions have on the environment and that everyone can do something to prevent pollution and protect our planet.
During our two-year project period, we dealt intensively with the issues of environmental pollution and climate change in our countries and worldwide, as well as with their consequences.
The result is an activity book on the subject of environmental protection for children with and without special needs, aged 10-13 years. Since it should reach as many children as possible, we have translated it into several languages (English, Polish, Italian and German). The activity book is characterized by the fact that it offers material at different levels, so that children with and without special needs can work together on a topic. All children, regardless of whether they have special needs or not, have the opportunity to make their personal contribution.
The activity book can be used, for example, in project weeks, as part of environmental education classes or in youth work in the leisure sector.
In terms of content, the activity book offers a theoretical, informative insight into the topics of climate change, waste, deforestation, pollution of the seas and their effects and our influence on them. In addition, exercises, tasks, quizzes, handicraft instructions (re-/upcycling), etc. offer an opportunity to consolidate the new knowledge and to put it into practice.
