Introduction to "Euclidean Geometry in Action"

"Euclidean Geometry in Action" is a part of the research project conducted by Patrick Chung Wing Hong, with Professor Allen Leung Yuk-Lun (Hong Kong Baptist University) as the supervisor.

GeoGebra is an tool and it is commonly used as an interactive IT tool in mathematics classrooms. However, its explorative and inductive nature contrasts with the deductive and formal nature of Euclidean geometry. Based on the various theoretical frameworks, personal teaching experiences and inspiration from others’ works, we suggest that the use of annotation tools could play an important role in mediating students' deductive reasoning in Euclidean geometry.

The following are some snapshots of the extra annotation tools that we designed for GeoGebra:

Example 1: Proving activity about Sum of Interior Angles of a Triangle

Example 2: Proving activity about Circle Theorems
