I graduated in Physics from Pisa University in 1999 under the supervision of Prof. Pietro Menotti with a thesis on matrix models in quantum gravity. I got my PhD in Theoretical Physics from Milano-Bicocca University in 2002 under the supervision of Prof. Claudio Destri, working on various topics in general relativity. Subsequently, I spent two postdoc years under an INFN grant for theoretical physicists at Salamanca University (Spain), working with Prof. Antonio Lopez Almorox and Prof. Carlos Tejero Prieto on the mathematics of gauge theories. Around those years, I started working somewhat independently in mathematical relativity, exploring several topics in causality theory that have become fashionable recently. I was appointed 'Ricercatore' at the University of Florence in 2005, where I joined the local group of mathematical physicists led by Marco Modugno and became Associate Professor of mathematical physics in 2015. From October 2024 I am Associate Professor at the University of Pisa. In recent years I promoted studies in low regularity Lorentzian geometry by, for instance, organizing the first conference on the topic (NRSG, Florence 2017).
