I would like to offer my customers files in .STL format for 3D printing.

I have created files in .stl format.

When I try to upload the file, I get a message that I should upload the file in a format accepted by Etsy such as .stl.

I don't know what to do.

I hope someone here can help me.

The screenshot is stating "Please upload files that end in .bmp, .doc, .gif, .jpeg, .jpg, .mobi, .mov, .mp3, .mpeg, .pdf, .png, .psp, .rtf, .stl, .txt, .zip, .ePUB, or .iBook".

Etsy Download My Files

Download Zip 🔥 https://urlca.com/2y3CZA 🔥

Hello, unfortunately i couldn't find the option to report a user through private messages, thats why i have to take it here to the forums in order to warn my fellow sellers here on etsy.

I got contacted by a person asking if I could print a custom Mousepad with their design. Send them a link to my article and asked them to provide me their design. Instead of getting a JPEG or PNG as usual, this person sent me a .PDF with a suspicious download link to their design inside of it. The tech nerd in me already had a bad feeling, so i fired up a custom virtual machine to safely inspect the file this person provided.

Zip files are normal so I am not sure this was an intent to harm. Possibly yes but not always. I would say this was one since they pressed you to download and since the jpeg can be delivered directly.

Zip files are for files that are too big, and for combining multiple files. Not for downloading one design, nor does it make sense the link was sent in a pdf. And a design in a .exe is never done. That is a program that runs/installs on your pc.

Theres not much Etsy can do about it because the malware is installed on the local device, not on the Etsy website. I expect they already scan messages for exe files but if it's hidden in another link then they won't catch it. What we can do about it is not click on links in messages/emails (harder than you think especially since some sellers rely on customers sending them files) but also make sure we have anti-virus software installed and keep it up to date. Never install an exe file unless you know what it is.

iam able to download the files well first off they seem to come in various formats but when i download them i am unable to view them on my computer screen. we ll some i can and some ask me what to open them with so yes what should i open them with? these are svg. eps. and stuff i have never heard of. all I want to do is get them into vetrics vcarve eventually, but for now I just want to see them. one download surprised me with like 800 files. HELP_!

DXF files from other CAD systems may often appear as individual lines and arcs after being imported and cannot be v-carved or pocketed between unless the vectors are joined using the tools supplied within Vectric products.

You can open or import files that have been saved in the following formats by using either File > Import > Import Component / 3D Model OR the Import a component or 3D model icon on the Modeling Tab.

HOLY COW. when it comes to explanations you do not screw around. I was trying to save all these files on my computer. now i realize i need to open vetrics first and import these rascals into it. thanks once again.

Etsy can be such an awesome platform to use for finding great gifts, interesting decor, crochet patterns and even house plants! Nothing in life is perfect, though, and the one downfall of purchasing digital files on Etsy is how confusing downloading them can be.

This has been an ongoing issue for a lot if my customers over the past six months. Through the new etsy seller app and the standard buy from etsy app, several buyers have reported that when I sent pdf files through messenger (many do not have access to a computer to download digital files) they are unable to click to open them. They click the preview and it just opens a the image as a preview--not the whole pdf file (so a cut off preview image of file).

I tested myself through my apps, and while I can click and view files from the etsy app my end, I can't via the new sell on etsy app. I also can not open files through messages on my Samsung devices.

As far as I know digital files must be opened through a browser. None of the Etsy apps allow files to be opened. Whenever I send a duplicate copy of a file to a customer through the message system I always tell them they have to open the file using a browser.

As far as I know, Etsy isn't letting customers download their digital files through the Etsy App. I assume it has to do with the same legal issue Kindle and other apps had with in app purchases a few months ago. If they had in app purchases, they would then be required by Google Play Store rules to hand over some of the profits. I could be wrong about this, but that isn't my issue.

My issue is that I sell digital crochet patterns. I kid you not, the last 4 sales I made, every customer contacted me saying they couldn't find the download link. And every one of them showed me a screen shot of their purchase inside the Etsy App. What I find so frustrating is that Etsy IS NOT TELLING these people that they can't download the files with the app. They think there is something physically wrong with the website. Half these people have straight up told me to "fix" the issue, or they ask for a refund.

I even had a customer that I tried to explain the situation to. I told them files can't be downloaded through the app. She told me "I don't like YOUR policy, I have downloaded files before with no problems. I want a REFUND NOW" She only relented and understood the situation after I showed a screenshot directly from Etsy's support page that says files can't be downloaded from the app. Only then did she realize this is not "my policy" but Ety's policy.

Could you not add a last image in the listings explaining that it is not possible to download the files via the app? Or you could upload the files to drop box or google drive and add a pdf to the download which includes the link to download the file directly from Dropbox or google drive (as a addition to the files).

Your solution to use a pdf file wouldn't work. They would have to download that PDF file through Etsy after purchase, and that is the whole issue I am having. No one on the App can receive download any type of files be it a pattern or a PDF file.

Of course I have no way of knowing how many potential buyers are totally confused and just give up without buying anything because they can't get past the personalization input. But I'm just so relieved to have so many fewer download problems that I really don't mind some potentially lost sales. It really is a time-suck trying to explain all this about the app to buyers and dealing with unfair feedback because they can't download their files.

The least Etsy could do would be to put a little informative message within the app itself telling buyers to download from a browser - I have no idea why they won't do this, and expect their sellers to do all the heavy lifting by answering questions, emailing out files, and having unfair 1-star feedback posted against their shops.

I copy and paste this to all customers who reach out with difficulty downloading. I estimate it's only about 2% or less of my customers that have trouble. You are welcome to copy verbatim and use as well.

Hi there, I'm so sorry to hear you are having trouble downloading your pattern!

Here is a link to Etsy information regarding how to download a digital file and where to find it once it is downloaded:

Please let me know if this doesn't work.

@SavoyFaire Nothing in that USPS publication says the buyer files the claim. You bought the insurance. You file the claim. If the package was lost, you have to reimburse your buyer, regardless of whether you get reimbursed through insurance or not. However, if it shows as Delivered, you are not responsible. Your better bet would be to try to help the buyer find the package. And to enlist the help of the PO that delivered it. You should call that PO and get the GPS information yourself, if you are relying on what the buyer is telling you. If GPS shows it delivered to the buyer's address, USPS won't pay the claim anyhow. If you're relying on the buyer's representation that the GPS shows it delivered somewhere else, you need to verify that. When that happens, USPS is supposed to go retrieve the package and deliver it to the correct address.

There is no one right answer to your Q of who files the insurance claim, but on Etsy it's always the seller since there's nowhere in the system for the buyer to buy insurance (as far as I know). On other sites, sellers sometimes get buyers to pay for insurance, in which case, it would be the buyer who would file a claim. Maybe that's why the USPS page doesn't use the terms buyer and seller -- it could be either.

No way to do it through etsy unless you create a new listing with the correct files and have them purchase that listing and refund for the first. If you add the correct files to the existing listing, future buyers will get the new files but past buyers will still only have access to the old files. Otherwise, as mentioned above, you can email the files or use dropbox or similar.

When you determine what type of file you want to sell, if it's one of Etsy's file types you can upload it directly to the listing, or if it's not then you can either zip the file(s) and upload that or deliver the files in some other way to the buyer. 2351a5e196
