Cut a small brown volcano mountain out of the brown construction paper. Height of the volcano should be about half the size of the ziploc bag.
Apply double sided tape on one of the side of the volcano cutout. Attach the cutout in the ziploc bag.
Squeeze some yellow and red paint (tempera) on the side of the volcano cutout that’s not attached to the ziploc bag.
Carefully turn over the bag. Be careful not to press on the bag.
Secure the bag on the table so that the bag does not move around during the activity.
Then you are ready to make a volcano eruption by pressing on the bag!
Write down the whole process of creating the volcano eruption.

On a piece of paper, draw a box with 6 columns and 6 rows.
Write the names of the objects in each box that you want to measure.
Now using any one of the three informal units, measure the objects and write the measurement down under the name of each object.
Keep the last column to write the name of the informal unit that you have used.
Get your child to reflect on:
Why did you use certain measurement unit to measure an object?
Can you measure any one object using all the three units?
In these three units, which unit is the best to use for measurement and why?
