Focus on the story
After reading each page, ask relevant question about the page read to understand the child’s comprehension.
Point to upper case and lower case letters of the alphabet.
General Questions after finishing the story:
What did you like about the story?
Which part was your favourite? Why?
Can you retell the key events of the story?
Encourage your child to recall a memorable moment and re-tell the experience in a form of a story (Example – Once a upon a time....).

Using the storybook read on Day 1 as a provocation, invite your child to:
Illustrate the environment/background setting of any one of his/her favourite page
Illustrate the key characters from that page
On the lined paper list down the names of each element that he/she have drawn
Make 3 to 4 sentences using the words from the word list.
Invite your child to explain/talk about his drawing (Questions to ask):
What challenges did you face when asked to draw one particular page, rather than drawing your general understanding of the story?
Encourage your child to write 3 to 4 sentences on his/her weekend.

Using the recycled materials:
Invite your child to design on a piece of paper, a model of a Robot/School bus/Machine of his/her choice
Get your child to list down the name and the quantity of the items needed for the model

Note: Always ensure that their is adult supervision when your child is using scissors.
Invite your child to write down the process of constructing the 3D model.

Number words list (Please prepare this list with the following number words):

Prepare a piece of paper and a pencil for your child and yourself to record.
Each player will have a paper and pencil to record.
Take turns to throw the dice.
Throw two dice and read the dice (for example, 6 and 5 is 65).
Then try to match the number (e.g. 65) to the number word (e.g. sixty five) and write it down on the paper within 30 seconds, before the other person throws the dice.
Use mathematical language to record/write the number word.
After 5 rounds – circle the highest number on your paper. The person with the highest number wins.
Encourage your child to count in fives and tens.

Bring all the things together - cupcake mix box, water/milk and mixing bowl, spoons and spatula on the table.
Go through the preparation method on the cupcake mix packaging with your child.
Discuss the safety aspects for the experience.
Read the nutrition facts and ingredients on the box.
Make your child aware of the expiry date on the package.
Discuss the hygiene practices (e.g. washing hands, making sure the bowls and spoons are clean)
Follow the instructions and start cooking!
